*Cervical Spine MRI for the Practicing Chiropractor- (6 Hours)

 Detailed Course Description:

Day one will begin with a review of the radiographic evaluation of the shoulder, including normal anatomy, variants and a recommended search pattern approach during radiographic evaluation and interpretation.  Radiographic anatomy of the shoulder with gross anatomy correlation will be presented along with common variants/pitfalls. Emphasis will be placed on systematically reviewing the shoulder study so subtle abnormalities will not be missed.  A complete search pattern approach will be presented, along with examples of common shoulder pathology on radiographs and advanced imaging correlation in the topics of variants, occult trauma, arthropathies, neoplasm, impingement/derangement, and rotator cuff disease.

Day one will continue with a radiographic slideshow open forum quiz consisting of 15-20 unknown short cases encountered in the chiropractic office.  Radiographs will be presented along with a multiple-choice format quiz for each case.  Each case will also feature a brief review of clinical considerations and possible management options for each entity presented.  All slides presented will consist of high-quality PowerPoint slides with a multitude of clear diagnostic imaging studies utilized for maximum learning potential.

Day one will continue with a basic review of MRI of the cervical spine for the chiropractor, including anatomy review with gross anatomy correlation.  Attendees will learn basic normal MRI anatomy of the cervical spine, the MRI appearance of common pathology encountered in a chiropractic office and the proper terminology used in diagnosis and reporting of these cervical spinal disorders.  Attendees will have a solid understanding of how to best order an MRI and be able to fully understand and correlate their patients’ MRI reports with pathology on images.
